Welcome to the official Andy Piney web page!

23rd November 2010
Wow, quite a break huh? Over a year of silence proves that I'm really bad at keeping stuff up to date. Nevertheless, here are some news:

What has happened since July 2009? Well, first of all, the spacesynth compilation I mentioned in the previous post actually managed to get out! Better later than not at all, right? There is also a review and you can purchase the CD here.

The demogroup I make music for as a side project (Evoflash) got a few more nice results at Assembly demoparties. In 2009 we finished 2nd in 64kb category and 3rd in Real Wild. This year we participated only in Real Wild category and won it with a clear margin! The music for all these three demos was done by me. Additionally, one of our coders participated in making of a tech preview demo showcasing the new 3D features (hardware acceleration, yup!) of upcoming new Flashplayer. The demo was shown in Adobe MAX event 2010 and had also my music in it. Personally I think it was one of the best demo soundtracks from me this far. All of these, excluding the last one, can be found on the Evoflash website and here's the HD youtube for the 3D demo.

Last but not least, there's a new release getting out tomorrow! "Apoyo" is a melodic progressive house tune and "Wherever I Go" takes it a bit deeper and hypnotic. The label is a hot newcomer on digital release field called D-Lab Records.

The future? Ahhh, who knows? Well, at least I know that for the next 10 months or so there might be another radio silence coming. For a while now I've tried to make music to get it out there, get it released. Looking back now I notice it hasn't been a good thing. Naturally my producing skills have improved all the time, but musically I feel like I've done nothing. It's not that somebody says me what I should do, but in every little choice, not always even consciously, I tend to make generic choices because I'd like to see the track get out (and still failing at it most of the time :D). The result is music that doesn't really satisfy me, doesn't really stand out from all other music out there and isn't interesting/good enough for the labels or buyers.
Either I'm not good enough in doing electronic dance music, or the way I've been doing it is wrong. I hope it's the latter, since my plan now is to spend next year gathering an album of around 10 tracks. The idea is to make the music exactly the way I like it and by doing so, get at least myself satisfied. That's anyway the reason I've been in to making my own music in the first place. In the end, if the album is good, I'll either try to find a label or more probably release it for free.

Despite of the album project, I'm always open for remixes, co-operation tracks etc if I find them interesting. It's restricting only my 100% own music production. So, back with new music in a year or so! (Hopefully earlier ;)

2nd July 2009
Redstar - Awakening remixes pt.1 including remixes from Syna and Andy Piney is out now from Red Force Recordings! It's available at Beatport and you can check my remix at Myspace.

Added also a few unsigned tracks for you to listen. Groovy summer house track "Mangrove", couple of progressive trance tracks "Adrift" and "Inevitable" and one pure trance track "Oddity". Go check them out!

Also, Alpha Centauri Music's spacesynth compilation cd is finally coming out in the July, including my track "Milkyway Travels Co.".

31st March 2009
Whole lot of stuff happening. First of all I removed all my old mp3 artist pages because I got tired of updating them (as you can see, even updating this seems to be overwhelming job for me). Hopefully from this day on, andypiney.com as well as Andy Piney myspace will get updated more often!.

New single is out! "Zenith" with remixes from Oliver Imseng and Spiritus & Asper is out now and available at Audiojelly, Beatport and later also on cd at CDJshop.com. Go get your dose of melodic progressive and groovy basslines!

Upcoming releases section updated to discography page. And added to those, I've some already finished original tracks waiting to find kind enough label to release them. Let's keep thumbs up and hope they won't stay just on my hdd :)

Of course, the number one place to listen and read what I've done is Andy Piney myspace.

2 June 2008

Added clips of "Zenith", "Evolver" and "Milkyway Travels Co." to myspace player.

1 June 2008
New site up and running!
Also, couple of new tracks got quite much finished and they'll hopefully get signed soon. I've finally found new, slightly different style for me. New Andy Piney is slightly slower, groovier but still spiced up with a lot of melodies.

During summer 2008 there will be something different out as well; i made a track for Alpha Centauri's upcoming spacesynth CD compilation which includes mostly tracks from people who usually don't produce spacesynth. So, should be quite interesting and fresh perspectives to spacesynth.

I've also remixed Redstar - Awakening, coming from Enhanced Records during the summer. Check out the clip at my myspace player.

My journey to game music world continues as well. Now when music for Planescape Trilogy: Purgatorio is done, we've moved to next project with our small musician group. More updates later about that. While waiting, check out Purgaotrio trailer here.

I'm also playing in June's Digression Sessions, a 3h monthly live internet radio show @ sense.fm. We've also started a blog for the show.
